A brief disclaimer
It seems now that even such a modest goal as one blog entry posting per week is too ambitious for me. With work, holidays and multiple social activities it's hard to find the time. So, this will have to be one of those blogs that are updated "now & then", not at a fixed frequency.
Anyway, I'll do my best...
Out Hud !!!
Recently I picked up the album called "Let Us Never Speak of it Again" by a band from California called Out Hud. The reason is that they share members with one of my favourite groups last year - !!!. But also since Out Hud is coming to Oslo this Friday, playing at the venue Blå.
There are similarities between Out Hud and !!!, they both have that punkish electronic dance sound. This has actually become somewhat of a trend over the last couple of years, with bands like LCD Soundsystem, TV On The Radio and Death from above 1979 moving around in the same soundscape. Nothing is forbidden, every sound and style - be it jazz, country, rock or metal can be blended with catchy electro pop dance rhythms. And usually with a playfulness that gets you smiling (such as LCD Soundsystems major hit "Daft Punk is playing at my house").
Out Hud has made an album that feels a bit up and down, not all the songs are equally strong in my ears - unlike the !!! album last year. Still, given some more time this album might end up as much cherished as "Louden up now".
